BEOMFIELD v. WESCOATT. Another important wrestling bout will be staged at the Opera Iloufe next Wednesday night under the auspices of the Palmerston North Wrestling Association, 'the contestants will be “Lofty” Blomficld, the New Zealand wrestling champion and tho idol of enthusiasts throughout his native country, and Norman (“Rusty”) Wescoatt, one of tho latest additions to the Dominion union’s forces. The newcomer is a man who is expected to make a strong bid as a rival to Blomfield’s standing both as a popular favourite and as a successful competitor. He has been the wrestling champion of Hawaii for a number of years, haing defeated many high-class Amerirtms who have visited tho island, and has built up an excellent record in America and in tho Far East. Before he gave his whole attention to wrestling he was famous as a swimmer, and he holds the record for . the long-distanco switrv across tho Golden Gate, the entrance to San Francisco Harbour. Wescoatt has also impressed himself upon Americans through his prowess ns a footballor, having led a Hawaiian University team which visited the States and proceeded to make easy work of some of the leading American college teams. Standing over 6ft. in height and weighing about 17st„ ho is an outstanding typo of athlete, and his wrestling is marked by speed, vigour, and aggression, together with the employment of many unusual and spectacular manoeuvres, including the popular droplock and flying tackle. Ilis style will blend admirably with that of Blornfield, and it will bo an excellent match the whole way. As tho city will ho full of visitors on Wednesday for tho. big football match, it behoves all to got in early at Colhnson and Cunninghame’s for their reservations. The free list has been suspended for this match.
