JOCKEYS’ LICENSES. OMISSIONS CAUSE STIR SYDNEY, Aug. 1. A Etir has been caused in racing circles by tho omission of the names of three well-known jockeys from the list of licenses for the now racing season. Tho most prominent omission is Keith Cook. Others are J. M. Coutta and D. H. Webb. Cook and Coutts say they have no idea why thoy have been left out. Tho Sunday Sun states that Webb says tho stewards told him he was not getting sufficient riding. A message from Melbourne says that, although they won only ono race in Melbourne for tho season ended yesterday, tho Smith brothers, of New Zealand, topped the list of winning owners. The race was the Melbourne Cup, won by Wotan. For tho New South Wales season J. King headed tho list of trainers with 39 winners. J. T. Jamieson, with 21J, was fourth, and G. Price, with 15i, fourteenth. W. Cook was the loading jockey with 79 wins and five dead-heats. McCarten was second with 72 winners and five deadhoats, and McMenamin third with 64 winners and two dead-heats.
