DOMINION AND DEFENCE. CHRISTCHURCH, Julv 30. “I can assure yon that the Government is not sitting down on its job of defence and is taking nh adequate ster>s to defend New Zealand,” said Mr W. E. Leadley, president of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association, at the quarterly meeting of the association. Mr Leadley added that rncmbets would realise that fact when the Estimates come down next year. Adequate defence was being prov’ded, and New Zealand was felling into line with other parts of the Empire.
