lamb Market very firm. CHILLED BEEF IMPROVES. The lamb market is very firm with better prices for heavy weights and second quality. Consumption continues good. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes firm with improved prices. Beef market: Frozen beef market quiet and unchanged. Chilled beef prices have improved this week owing to lighter supplies. Now Zealand porker pigs: • Firmer. Now Zealand baconcr pigs: Firm, with higher prices. The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are ihe approximate prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, boing for 'business done on the basis of delivered to Smithtiold market and/or ex London stores. Others unchanged. The market is steady all round. The above cabled advice was received on Saturday by Levin and Co., Ltd., from their London agonts. The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following ad : vice from its London office os at close ol business last weok:—The market is short of wethers; prices arc nominal, lhe demand for ewes is improving, but prices arc practically unchanged, lhe market for lambs is stoady. Prices have hardened for chilled beef owing to smaller supplies.
