TWO SKULLS DUG UP.

DISCOVERY IN GARDEN. THOUGHT TO BE OLD. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Aug. 2. While digging in the garden at his home, No. 2 Zealandia Street, yesterday, Mr Desmond Wood dug up two skulls. The police were called and, as the result of further digging operations, a few more bones were unearthed. These included a section of jaw with teeth attached. The bones are thought to be of considerable age, possibly up to one hundred years. Mr E. J. Wood thinks that one skull differs in the shape of the forehead from the Maori skulls he has previously examined. One skull was broken in a way which looked as though a bullet had passed through it. The police are making further inquiries.
