VERTAPLANE TESTED.
CHANGES INTO GYRO. PHILADELPHIA, July 30. A successful demonstration was held before Governmental air experts of the so-called vertaplane, which flew conventionally but was also able to convert one wing in mid-air into a rotator, enabling the machine to land like a gyro. Combining the advantages of both types, it weighs 17001 b. At present. it does not carry a pay-load, and this remains one of the greatest problems in its development.
