ABORIGINAL OUTLAW
KILLED BY HIS TRIBE. POLICE ACTION UNLIKELY. DRAMA NEAR DARWIN. (United Press Assoeiation—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 3, 11.25 a.m. DARWIN, Aug. 3. Pursued by the police for nearly 12 months and outlawed by his tribe for five tribal killings, “Smiler,” who is known as the Lone Wolf of Arnheim Land, has been killed in the Liverpool River district. It appears that, with the police on his heels, Smiler was driven back towards his own country, where he was speared to death. It is unlikely that further action will ho taken by the police as Stniler’s death was caused by practically uncivilised natives in accordance with tribal custom.
