HOUSEHOLD HINTS.
Electric light buttons can easily he seen in the night if they are painted over with a little luminous paint. Whitewash will stick better, and is less likely to drip, if a handful of salt is added when using. Steep salad vegetables in water with a little borax. They will be delightfully fresh. Instead of stewing rhubarb, put it into a basin or jar, then place the container into a pan of boiling water and steam it. To keep your copper free from stains and nicely polished, leave in the suds and allow to stand for 24 hours. Empty and dry with a soft cloth. To set permanently the colours of silk, dissolve a packet of Epsom salts in a dish of cold water and rinse the articles to bo washed in this before putting them into any other water. When reheating a pie, stand it in a baking dish half-filled with boiling water on the top of the oven for 20 minutes. Then place in the oven for 10 minutes. It will then bo as if freshly made.
