KITCHEN EVENING.
MISS T. IvERSEL HONOURED. A kitchen evening for Miss Thelma Kersel was held by the Palmerston North Business Girls’ Club last night, when there was a large attendance. A most enjoyable time was spent. A relay game provided amusement and a drawing competition was won by Miss N. Jordan. Entertainment was provided with items and a competition, things found in the kitchen, which was won by Miss Jean Barrie. Miss O’Connor and partner gave a demonstration of the quickstep and slow foxtrot; Miss M. Penketh delighted with vocal solo-s, “Brown Bird Singing” and “Fairy Tales of Ireland,” and Miss Zena King gave pleasure with her pianoforte solos, “Valse Caprice” and “Trees.” After supper - the opportunity was taken by Mrs M. H. Oram (president), before asking Miss Kersel to accept the gifts, to wish her happiness in the future on behalf of tlie club members. Miss Kersel had been a member for about seven years and sbe would be very much missed, said Mrs Oram. Mrs A. E. Mansford, patroness, endorsed these remarks and said the attendance and numerous gifts testified to the members’ appreciation of Miss Kersel’s comnanioship. There was much fun over the opening of the parcels and Miss Kersel expressed her thanks. She was accorded musical honours.
A presentation was made to Miss Kersel by the manager of the Dominion Auctioneering Company, Mr C. N. Rabone, on behalf of himself and the staff. Mr Rabone asked Miss Kersel to accept a crystal water jug and goblets, and wished her every happiness in the future.
