(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Aug. 2. During July rain felt locally on lu days, a total of .78,m being recorded. The maximum daily fall was ,3in, on the 22nd. The hottest day was the 12th, with a temperature of 61 degrees, and the coldest day the 7th, with o 7 degrees. The vital statistics' for Foxton for July, with the figures for the corresponding period last year in parentheses, are as follorv: —Births, 4 (3); deaths, 3 J(l); marriages, 2 (3); Maori, births, 2 (1); deaths, 2 (nil). A team from the Herrington Golf Club visited Shanonn during the week-end to participate in an iiuor-club .match, winning by 13 games to 2. Detailed results, Foxton players mentioncl first: —J. D. The funeral of the late Airs 13. S. Thynno took place on Saturday afternoon and was largely attended. Services at All Saints’ Church and-at the graveside w'ero conducted by Rev. E. W. Burgin and the pallbearers were Messrs B. G. Gower. G. Coley, sent-., W. 11. Smith, D. Purcell, J. Scott, R. Rangiheuea, and J. R. Reid. Very little whitebait is running in the Manawatu River. Only small quantities have been caught so far.. The settlers of Aloutoa are painting and renovating the Aloutoa Hall by working bees.
There is quite an epidemic of boat building in Foxton at present. Several enthusi' asts arc constructing “idle along” boats
