WORK AT RICCARTON.

TUDOR VERY LAME. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 2. The work at Riccarton this morning was not exciting, steady pacing being required from most horses after the racing on Saturday. Fireguard, Corowa, and Monastic wcro schooled over four hurdles, giving a good display at a sound pace. Corowa shaped well for a novice and may be started among tho hack hurdlora beforo the end of the Grand National meeting.

Signaller broke down in his raco on Saturday and will require a long spell. Tudor was very lame when he was pulled up after the Homcby Steeplechase any may be sent home without doing any more racing. Trench Fight suffered no ill effects from his experience on Saturday, when he galloped about three miles while doing. his preliminary for tho Brabazon Handicap. The incident did not put him off his feed, and ho was galloping round his paddock yesterday as freely as ever. Except for the fact that lie missed the opportunity .of a race, his AVinter Cup prospects arc in no way prejudiced. A report is in circulation that all is not well with the South Canterbury steeplechaser Snntoft, tho winner of the AA’elhngton Steeplechase last month.
