WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Markets reopened quietly yesterday on the Wellington Stock Exchange, and the turnover recorded was of no great volume. Prices were generally steady at about last •week’s rates. Government loans were on the firm side, but quoted offers failed to stimulate sellers’ interest. Bank shares remained dull, investors showing little in* terest. New South Wales sold 2s 6d up at £34 17s 6d. New Zealand were steady at 445, sellers 44a 9d. There were unanswered buyers of National of New Zealand at 59s 6d, a.nd of Commercial of Australia at 18s. Gear Meat issues were firmer on business at 17s 9d. Brewery issues were quietly steady at about lato rates. Australian Glass were wanted at 93s 6d. sellers asking Is better. Broken Hill Proprietary eased on sales from 83s to 82s 3d, six parcels selling later at 82s 6d. Other industrial and trading issues were very quiet. Mount 1/yell firmed on sales from 43s to 43s 3d, and Broken Jlill South went up to 49s l^d. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
