SNOW SPORTS.
EVENTS AT RUAPEHU. Per Press Association. THE CHATEAU, Aug. 2. The second day’s sports of the Tongariro Ski Club took place under perfect weather conditions. The snow was icy but competition, especially in the men’s slalom and open downhill handicap race, was particularly keen. The coruses were lined with spectators who cheered the competitors.. Results : Men’s Slalom.—J. Eeed (Masterton) I, Major Brandon (Wellington) 2, Iv. Bowie 3, M. Goeffie (National Park) 4, B. Todd (Wellington) 5, S. Beckham (National Park) 6. Women’s Novice.—Mrs Scott Wilson (Auckland) 1. Mrs I). Todd ("Wellington) 2, Miss B. Hazelwood (Auckland) 3. Open Handicap, Downhill.—J. “Reed (Masterton) 1, J. Loveridge (National Park 2, A. Bowie (Auckland) 3, H. Phibbs (Auckland) 4, C. Paine (Auckland) 5. Club Championship.—J. Reed (Masterton) . The club’s second annual dinner was held to-niglit. Tho American and New Zealand ski teams were tho guests of honour.
