PAHIATUA, Aug. 2. A kitchen evening arranged by Alcsdames T. Kerrison and G. Sowry was held at Air and Airs D. Buckley’s residence, Mangamutu, in honour of Aliss V. Buckley and Mr G. Knox, whose marriage takes place this week. The guest was presented with a posy of violets by Alicliael Miller. A quessing comptitiion was won by Miss J. Sowry, while Aliss AI. AlcDonakl and Air W. O’Brien wore the winners of the Alonte Carlo waltz. The music for the dancing and games was supplied by Alisses E. Alillor, K. O’Brien, AI. Naughton and F. Buckingham, while community singing (witli Air AlcDonald at the piano) was held. The junior Rugby championship, conducted by the Bush Union, concluded on Saturday afternoon with the fob lowing results: Nireaha 0 v. Hukanui 0, Ngaturi 11 v. Marima 3, Bailance forfeited to Pahiatua, Eketahuna Old Boys forfeited to Alakuri. Tho points to date aro as follow: Hukanui 18, Nireaha 18, Ngaturi 15, Pahiatua 14, Marima 11, Eketahuna 0.8. 5, Ballance 4, Alakuri 3.
