AMATEUR CYCLING.
On Saturday the Alanawatu Amateur Cycling Club conducted a hill climb instead of their usual road race. The event proved very popular riot only with the competitors but also with the spectators, of whom there was a large number. The results were as follow: Fletcher (25sec.), lmin. 37sec., 1 ; Little (20sec.), lmin. 32sec. ,2; G. Sheridan (iOsec.), lmin. 42sec., 3Also started: AV. Sheridan (15sec.), Rogers (osec.). Esau (12sec.), Campbell (lOsec.). Alanning (scr.). The boys’ race, to Newbury and return, was a sealed handicap and resulted as follows: Sheerin (2-jmin.;, ISniin. 51sec., 1 ; Turnbull (3min.), 19min. 25sec.. 2; McLean (3min.), 19inin. 30 l-ssec., 3; Petrie (3}min.), 19min. 58sec., 4. Also started. —Purvey (31min.), Yineent (4)min.). Graham (41mm.), AlcGill (omin.). Butler (omin.).
