THE DEVIATION.

MATTER FOR CABINET. Advice has been received by Mr J. Hodgens. M.P., from the Minister of Railways (HOll. D. G. Sullivan) that the positioii in regard* to the Milsou deviation proposals remains unaltered, and the subject has yet to lie discussel by Cabinet. The letter received by Mr Hodgens from the Minister reads as follows: “With reference to your personal interview in regard to the Palmerston North deviation proposal, I desire to inform you that the position has not altered, since I spoke to you at Palmerston North while I was en route to Wairoa recently. You will remember that on that occasion I advised you that I had received the departmental report, but that it would not be possible to come to a decision until a full Cabinet meeting had been held and the matter discussed.”
