APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. With a view to bringing the membership- of the Legislative Council up to approximately its normal strength, additional appointments will be made to the Upper House in the near future. “Several appointments will be made to the Legislative Council before the opening of the forthcoming session ot Parliament,” said the Prime Minister tonight. “The Governments object is to maintain the Council at its normal strength.” c With the death a few days ago ot Hon. L. M. Tsitt there are now 33 members in the Legislative Council. Although the number of members is not limited, it is the traditional practice to maintain the strength of the Council at about 40, representing half the strength of the House of Representatives Immediately prior to June 10 last the membership of the Council was « five members, the leader of the Council (Hon. M. Fagan). Hon. R. Masters. Hon. D. Buddo. Hon. R. McCa.lhim and Hon. J. Trevethick completing their-t.-rins of appointment on that flav. The reappointment of Mr la_.an. iinw-ovor. left the strength of the Council at 31. -
