CRITICISM OF THE NAVY. Professor J. B. S. Haldane, who visited Spain some months ago to assist the Madrid authorities with antigas precautions, told Communist demonstrators in Trafalgar Square, London, that the fight was between action and reaction. The Communist Party was the only one alive to the signincance of the Spanish struggle and prepared to uphold democratic principles. Formerly there was a great British tradition that the Navy was prepared to protect British shipping at all costs, the professor added, but the world had seen how it was observed recently.
