POHANGINA VALLEY.

POHANGINA, Aug. 3.

There was a good attendance at the fortnightly euchre party in the Pohangina Hall, the proceeds being in aid of tho Anglican Church funds. Miss A. Harland was the winner of tho ladies’ prize, tho consolation going to Mrs A. Bahner, who won the cut from Mrs F. Wagstalf. Mr B. B. Bockett handed in. the best card in the men’s section, Mr T. Harland winning the consolation prize. On Saturday a team representing the Pohangina Rifle Club, consisting of J. and D. Spolman, M. FitzHorbert, A. Bahner, C.’ Gavin and D. Turnbull, journeyed to Ashhurst to compete in the shoot for the Parlies Cup. A mooting of the club was held at Raumai, Mr J. D. Balmer presiding. After a life of over thirty years, the club was faced with the danger of having to wind up owing to decreased membership. However, a canvass of prospective members produced' encouraging results, and it was decided to carry on. PERSONAL. Airs IT. Mitchell, of Palmerston North, is the geust of Airs F. Wood. Miss N. Grover, of Palmerston North, is the guest of Miss J. Sinclair. Miss A. Smith, of lo Awamutu, and Alisa J. AVhite, of Palmorston North, are the guests of Aliss M. Aladdison. Air L. Galvin has returned from a holiday spent in Pahiatua.
