DIVORCE ACTIONS. DECREES NISI GRANTED. Undefended petitions in divorce and applications for discharge from bankruptcy were dealt with by- His Honour tlie Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, in tlie Supreme Court to-day. Mrs Elizabeth Ada Brown, of \\ ellington (Mr A. M. Ongley), sought a divorce from Nathaniel rsiah Willlielein Brown, of Grey-mouth, a well-borer, oil grounds of a separation order. Petitioner gate evidence that she was married in December, 1914, at Woodville. They lived at Himatangi, ltoiigotea, Masterton, and New Plymouth. There were beven children. In April, 1934, a separation order was made in Palmerston North and. the parties had not lived together since tlien. Petitioner asked for the custody of tlie three youngest children. Corroborative evidence was given by* Miss J• Burns, ot Palmerston North, and ■ a decree nisi was granted, to ho moved absolute at the end of three months, interim custody of the three children being granted petitioner. Mrs Mary Christine Elsinore, of 1 almerston North (Air .H. R Coopei), petitioned for dissolution of her marriage with George Edwin Elsinore, of Masterton, on the grounds of a septiration order. Petitioner gave evidence of being married to lcspondcnt oij November 27, 1907 at Palmerston North. The parties had lived at Palmerston North until the separation oil August 12. 1929. There had hen wo clnldien of the marriage. Mrs G. Hansen, of Palmerston North, daughter of petitioner, gave corroborative evidence. A decree nysi w-as granted, to be moved absolute at the expiration of three mo nt lie. An oral agreement for separation was given as the ground on which Arthur Frederick Webb, a clerk, of Palmerston North (Air J. A. Grant), petitioned for divorce from Airs \ lolet Webb, of Martinborough, Petitioner stated that he had married respondent in Wellington on May 31, 1920. Ihe.v hud lived at 'A'elliiigtoii, Petone and. Palmerston North. The one child of the marriage, a daughter, resided with respondent. On February 11, . 1932, the parties separated. J. H. white, qt Milson submitted coi roborative evidence as to the parties having lived apart to his knowledge, for about five years. A decree nisi, to be moved absolute alter the expiration of three months, w-as granted. Ronald Godfrey Green, a labourer, of Waituna West (Mr T. L. Seddon), sought a divorce from Mrs Beatrice Constance Knox Green (Alarton) oil the ground of separation. Petitioner stated that he married respondent in March, 1934, and on June 7 of that vear they entered into a deed of separation. R. D. Elgar, a farmer, of Kakariki, gave evidence of the parties having lived apart, and F. Woolford, of Waituna West corroborated it. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute at tlie expiration of three months.
Ivy Lilian Anderson, of Palmerston North (Air T. M. N. Rodgers), on the ground of separation sought a divorce from Cecil How-ard Anderson, a labourer, of Alasterton. Petitioner gave evidence as to having been married on May 21, 1930, and they- had lived in Alasterton. In April, 1933, the parties had agreed to separate and had not lived together since. Airs J. Perfect, of Alasterton, submitted evidence as to the parties having lived apart. A decree nisi was granted, to be moved .absolute at the expiration of three month. Airs Ala.v Brown, of AVMlington (Air H. R. Cooper), asked Lor a divorce from Hector Wilfred Brown on the ground of separation. She said the parties had been married in August, 1925 at Palmerston North, and they had. lived at Alarton and Palmerston North. On June 8, 1934, they had signed a deed of separation and had not lived together since. Airs M. Jeffries, mother of petitioner, corroborated the evidence, and a decree nisi was granted, to be moved absolute at the end of three months. : Airs Jean Ruth Roach, of Palmerston North (Mr F. G. Opie), asked for a divorce from Lester Benedict Roach, a labourer, 'of Huntly, an agreement for separation being the grounds for her petition. Petitioner gave evidence that she had been married on May 24. 1932, at Alatangi, Hamilton. They had lived at Rotorua, Alatangi and liainilton. In January, 1934, petitioner came to Foxton on holiday- and on her return in February found her husband had been arrested, They agreed to separate. Respondent spent two and a-lialf years in prison and petitioner had not lived with respondent since then. Airs A. Hutchins, of W oodville, gave evidence as to the parties having lived apart, similar evidence being given by Airs S. James. A decree nisi w-as granted, to be moved absolute at the expiration of three months.
Charles Vaughan Riches, a labourer, of Palmerston North (Mr Cooper), asked for a divorce from Mrs Ngaio Marie Riches, of Longburn. Petitioner gave evidence as to having married respondent in Dannevirke on January 19, 1927. Petitioner was then 19 and respondent 17." In August, 1933, petitioner alleged, he found respondent was too friendly with another man, Ted Gibbons, and petitioner and respondent parted. Respondent had made admissions as to the paternity of a child. After further evidence, witness stated he had seen respondent and co-respondent (Gibbons) together at Longburn, where they lived now. James Donnelly gave evidence as to respondent and co-respondent having lived together. Evidence was also given by Mrs C. Thompson, sister of petitioner, and J. J. Carroll, to show that Mrs Riches had been known as “Mrs Gibbons.” A decree nisi was granted, to be moved absolute after the expiration of three months. Alleging desertion by her husband, Mrs Melva Gladys Merwood, of Palmerston North (Mr G. C. Petersen) sought divorce from Reginald Charles Merwood, a farmer, of Paeroa. Petitioner stated she had been married to respondent on April 13, 1925. They had lived at Palmerston North, Feilding and Hunterville. There were two children. On November 15, 1929, petitioner returned from a holiday and found her husband absent. He did not return. He was riiaintaining the children. Corroborative evidence was given by C. F. Stratton, and a decree nisi was granted, to he moved absolute at the expiration of three months.
Mrs Frances Garbutt, of Palmerston North (Mr J. M. Gordon) sought a divorce from Walter John Garbutt. a labourer, of Palmerston North. Petitioner gave evidence of having been married to respondent on October 1, 1930. In April, 1934, respondent left petitioner. Respondent had not lived with petitioner since and had not maintained her. Mrs Elizabeth Ganderton gave evidence that the parties had not lived together for three years. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute after the expiration of three months.
