(From Om Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Aug. 3. The rainfall for July was 1.37 in., while for the past seven months it was 16.15 in. Rain fell on 12 days, while there were 11 frosts, the heaviest being 13 degrees. . A number of Otaki residents are in camp at Pukerua on the road-making scheme. One of the best football matches seen in the district this season was the one on Saturday at Otaki. when the home team beat Shannon.. 24—8. Raliui and Otaki Juniors played a drawn game, 11 points each. One of tho best kicks of tho season was when Rex Nicolson potted a goal from half-way. Arrangements have been made to entertain the All Blacks at Otaki. The vital statistics for Otaki for July were:—Births, European 13, Muori 1; deaths, European 2, Maori 1; marriage licenses issued, 1. Mr and Mrs W Higgins and the Misses Higgins, of Waikanae. who are on lour, expect to return to New Zealand in September. Nurse Empson, who has been spending a holiday with her parents in Tasmnr. Road, has returned to the Palmerston North Hospital. The funeral of the late Mrs Roxburgh took place on Saturday, when there was a representative attendance. Rev IVI. Jackson conducted the service.
