RUNAWAY MARRIAGE.
COMEDIAN AND HIS BRIDE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 3. Married against the wishes of her parents on the night before her husband left Sydney for Auckland, Miss Jean McEvoy decided to follow by a later vessel. She arrived to-day and was met by her husband, Mr “Chick” Arnold, comedian in Frank Neil’s Revue Company, now playing in Auckland. “It was a runaway ma.rriage, said Miss McEvoy to an interviewer. She was president of the St. Vincent’s Hospital Younger Set Committee and met Mr Arnold at a social function at which he was assisting to raise funds for the hospital. They quarrelled, but met again a few weeks later and became friendly. Slie was in Brisbane while the company was playing there. “We were out fishing in Brisbane when we decided to marry,” said Mr Arnold. “Literally, I caught my bride on a fishing line.” _ Both nre enthusiastically .looking forward to their tour of New Zealand and their subsequent life together.
