RICCARTON GALLOPS. - HURDLERS. ALSO SCHOOLED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. 5. Tho weather was fine but cold for the training work afc Riccarion this morning. The outside of the course, proper was open for fast work, but it was very heavy as tho result of rain earlier in the week. The steeplechase fences on the course proper were also available, being several trainers, while a number of lurdlers were schooled in the middle of the course. •Sovereign Lady and Chidden did a mile in 1.50, going at an oven pace. Golden Lap and Corona did a mile and a-quarter, the last half-mile taking 55 o-o and Happy Night took 1.6 3-5 for five furlongs. .. Tiger Gam and Journet did a mile in 154 ' Dictate and Palmyra went well over five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Forum beat Roso of Tralee over six furlongs in 1.23 2-5. Trench Fight had Lazybones for a mate over the last half-mile of a seven furlongs gallop in 1.31 1-5. This was a good gallop. Greek Gold and Waitaka did half a mile along the bank in 53seo. Miracle, with Silver Sight ns a mato over the last six furlongs, covered a mile at even pace in 1.51. , ~ Concertpitch did . seven furlongs in 1.50 2-5, the last four in 55sec. . Rockingham and Liane took 56sec tor Rousseau, picked up by Swordstick, did .even furlongs in 1.33 2-5, the last four ta E.ely s3 and Kindly took 1.38 2-5 for over seven furlongs in 1.37 1-5. 1 c z r Pelmet and Screamer took 1.6 3-5 lor five furlongs, Jed Forest and Daydress 1 King and Le Toquet went out to gallop five furlongs, but tho latter turned round and bolted the wrong way, leaving Arctic King to get through the task alone in 1.6 2-5. . , . A large number of other horses did strong work, among them being many moved along at a working gallop once round. The first-named pair kept together all tho way and their exhibition was very atractive, as they cleared each fence fast, and straight. Maoailpein, following them, did well till he reached the brush at the top of the straight, where ho blundered and lost Bis rider. Solwit jumped smartly over two hurdles. Blue Tiger and Primate went out to «chool over the hurdles hut the former came to grief at tho first, his. rider receiving a shaking. Primate subsequently jumped four flights alone in good style, while Bluo Tiger wont over six, -the only blot being that ho dipped on landing over the second to last. Giggleswick jumped four hurdles. He was not very clever over the first but gave a good showing over the other three. Redolent followed over the same ground, giving a brililant, exhibition. Sunny Land wound up his jumping by going at a sound place over four hurdles. This morning’s arrivals from the north wero John Charles, Sir Nigel, Royal Banquet, Bunfight, and Settlement. Manawatu was scratched for all engagements at the Grand National meeting at 4.30 p.m. yesterday, and Land Raid at 11.40 this morning.
