. . PAHIATUA, Aug. 4. Enthusiasm wa.s displayed at a meeting held in Pahiatua last evening to hear Mr Justin M. Power, of Wellington, organiser to the New Zealand National Party. Mr J. G. Brechin, president of the local branch, presided. A lecture was given m me banners’ Union and A. and P. rooms this week by Mr J. A. Walsh, his talk dea. ing with Western Samoa and Niue Island, and also the life in these islands of the Pacific. The speaker dealt with the geographical and historical associations, and interspersed hie talk with anecdotes.

Morgan; starter and Limckeeper, Messrs V. Boyens, J. Miller and C. Meade; club captain, Mr R. Millar; general committee, Messrs V. Boyens, C. Meade, S. Bird, E. Lett and the president, secretary and treasurer and all financial riding members of the club.

A bogey competition was lield by the Pahiatua Golf Club over the weekend. The best cards returned were: A Division, R. H. Taylor (11) 3 down; N. Judd (12) 4 down ; J. G. Swainson (6) 5 down. B Division, W. Darlev (22) 2 down; E. Douds (19) 3 down; L. A. Truscott (26) 4 down. The following reductions have been made in handicaps; W. Darley from 29-22 to 27-20: E. Douds from 25-19 to 24-18 ; L. A. Truscott from 35-26 to 33-25; G. Jones from 34 25 to 30-23; L. Donald from 35-26 to 33-25.
