WELLINGTON FIRE.
OFFICE RECORDS DESTROYED. Per Press Association'. WELLINGTON, Aug. 4. A fire which broke out in the Labour Department’s library about 7 o’clock to-night practically gutted that section of the Department’s offices on the second floor of the Hope Gibbons building, and destroyed a number of files and records, but these are believed to be unimportant. The seat of the fire appeared to be in the corridor next to the library. Some papers which had evidently been smouldering for some time burned through the partition igniting the shelves of books in the library.
