SPRINGBOKS DEPART

PRACTICE THIS MORNING. FAREWELL AT STATION. A very happy party, the South African Rugby team left Palmerston. North by train shortly after 1 p.m. to-day for Wellington. They were besieged by autograph hunters and farewolled by new friends whose acquaintance the.v had made during their four days’ stay in the city. Springbok players who were not engaged in the match yesterday had a short practice run.at the Showgrounds this morning and, after an early lunch, the party left far the station. En route, iu their bus, they sang their own lilting tune “Sarie Marais,” and at the station a group of stalwart vocalists gathered round a ukulele to sing the Springbok football song. Cheers were exchanged as the train drew out, and those left behind had memories of a very fine band of sportsmen. Members of tire management committee of tho New Zealand Rugby Union present at the match yesterday were Messrs S. S. Dean (chairman), W. J. Wallace, A. O. Kitto, J. G. Roache, A. McDonald, and F. Glasgow. New Zealand selectors present were Messrs E. McKenzie, M. Nicholls, and A. Adams.

Mr J. do Villiers, assistant manager of the Springbok team, left for Wellington last evening.
