For the sixteenth time, Victoria College, Wellington, won the shield tor the Jovnt Scroll debate between Nrw Zealand university colleges in the thirtv-third contest, held at Auckland last evening The subiect was That Democracy Has Failed. J debate, A. R. Ferry opened for Viotoria, the affirmatives, D. L. the Otago leader replying. Other snml-ers wore S. O, Andrews (VlComl and M. G. O'Callaghan (OtagoV The second debate between Canter--I,mv and Auckland, was broadcast. The speakers were; Canterbury (aff.radjudged the best speaker. with George one point behind. -
