TABLE TENNIS.

MANAWATU CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Manawatu Table Tennis Association’s A grade championshipe were hold in the Takaro club rooms and the B and C grades on Wednesday evening, when only a fair representation from tho various clubs participated. The men’s championship singles were won by G. Tapp, of the Takaro Club, with J. Quigan (Terraco End) runner-up, last year’s holder, D. McMurray, being beaten in. the first round. Tho ladies’ singles wore won by Miss L. Hughes (Terraco End), with Mrs S. New (Hokowhitu) run nor-up, tho former being the present titleholder. She has proved herself the outstanding player in the ladies section for several seasons. The men’s championship doubles were won by J. Quigan and R. Rowland, with G. Tapp and R. lapp run-ners-up, the present holders being VV • Gloyn and R. Rowland. The B grade championship singles were won by F. Wood (Hokowhitu), who beat R. Dilks (Longburn) in tho final. Tho C grade was won by S. Wright (Takaro) with R. Dilks (Longbum) runner-up, tho latter player also being runner-up in the B grade. The ladies’ handicap singles were won by Miss L. Hughes, with Miss M. Lennox runnerup. , , . The men’s championships were played to tho best of 5 .sets 21 up, while the ladies’ were tho best of 3 sets 21 up and tho ladies’ handicap 1 set 31 up.
