EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” AUGUST 6, 1907. Bidding had been brisk at a horse sale in Palmerston North at which the highest price for a draught gelding was £62. Nothing had been sold under . £3O. The AVanganui Borough Council had accepted a tender of £41,776 for the construction of electric tramways. The Levin Dairy Co. had decided to change its Linton creamery into a cheese factory. A cheese factory had also been established at Mangatainoka. In the Wanganui Education Board elections' Mr A. Fraser had been returned unopposed for the Southern AVard, while Mr D. 11. Guthrie had defeated Mr B. P. Lethbridge in the Central AVard. It had been estimated that £2,000,000 had been put through the totalisators in the country in 12 months.
