JARVIS OUTPOINTS GILDO. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Aug. 5. Tn a scientific display of boxing tonight Jack Jarvis (Eltham). lightweight professional champion of the Dominion, outpointed Young Gildo, the Filipino, over 15 rounds. Jarvis had a clear-cut win, showing sound defence and better condition than his opponent. TOURNAMENT AT ELTHAM. LOVERIDGE BEATS PARKER. HAWERA, Aug. 5. After being slightly ahead on points at the end of the third round of a professional boxing contest at Eltham to-night, Alan Parker, of Palmerston North, was knocked out half-way through the fourth round by Tui Loveridge, of Tariki. Both men weighed 9st 12lb. Loveridge endeavoured in the third round to take the fight to close quarters. Parker keeping linn off with a straight left well placed to the head. Botli slipped to the canvas early in the fourth round, and when they rose Loveridge connected with a left to the jaw. He followed this up with a right and a left in quick succession, and the fight was over. The preliminaries took the form or a match between a team from Palmerston North and one from Taranaki, the visitors losing all but the first bout. Results were:— , „ . H. Yincivus (Palmerston North) 11.1 : L. Huzziff (Tariki) 10.12 beat J. Page (Palmerston North) 11.7.
