TARANAKI TRAINERS.
H. DULIEU HEADS LIST Since taking up his residence at New Plymouth, IT. Dulieu has had a wonderful innings over the four years, during which he has always been at the head of the North Taranaki winning list. His record for the season is 23 firsts, 32 seconds, 23 thirds for £33295 in stakes, and takes his total for four years to 95 firsts, 77 seconds, 59 thirds, for £10,4575 in stakes. Royal Secret and Sporting Song, with four firsts and three firsts respectively, were the mainstays of Dulieu’s team, but in addition Te Huia, Cute Melody, Bazaine. Sleepy, Silk Sox, Red Sand, Kentucky Song, Even Money, and Court Arma were all winners. J. Fryer has now held a place near the top of the Taranaki list for almost 30 years, and in the past season he achieved his ambition of winning the Melbourne Cup. Fryer will not be located in Taranaki in the future, as he intends to make his headquarters at Ellerslie on returning from Australia. Fryer’s principal winners were Wotan, International. Le Grand, One Whetu, Tout le Monde, Flying Chief, Ned Cuttle, Indie cretion, Red Manfred, and Vadanoe. In third place for Taranaki is H.Gray, who made a most successful start in his first year of training at New Plymouth. Ho did well to win the Now Zealand Cup and three other races with Fersen, while both Bantry and Captain Tudor did splendid service and Grateful and Eagle’s Eye were also winners. 0. Cox raced a small team sparingly to win his usual double-figure tally, Friesland doing easily the best to account for six races. Of the other trainers J. Brown, R. Barlow and R. Johnson did not faro quto as well as usual, but both G. A. Reid and L. George did well.
