FOXTON
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Aug. 4. Mr and Mrs L. Kingston, of Thynne Street, intend leaving Foxton at the end of the week. Mr and Mm R. Tolley are at present visiting Mr and Mrs T. W. Hunt. Mr R. O. Hornblow has received notice of his appointment as honorary child welfare olliccr for the Foxton district. Mrs A. Watt-Brown, of Wanganui East, is the guest of Mrs J. K. Hornblow. At the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild, a motion of sympathy was accorded Mrs J. M. Thomson in her illness and it was decided to forward her a letter of appreciation of the excellent services she has always rendered the guild. Officers were elected as follow: —President, Mrs McG. Murray; vice-president, Mrs M. E. Pcrroau; scretary, Mrs D. R. Barron; treasurer, Mrs S. Newth and Miss B. Speirs (pro tcm). A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs M. E. Pcrreau for her work as president and vice-president during the past year, and Rev. Mr Murray also proposed a vote of thanks to those who had acted as hostesses at the social meetings. At the monthly meeting of the Foxton District High School Committee, Mr W. R. McKenzie (chairman) presided. It was considered that the present arrangements for the storing of wood at the school are dangerous and it was decided to apply to the board for extra accommodation in this respect. It was decided to link np with the Manawatu and Oioua School Committees’ Association. Messrs H. Podmore, E. Titcombe, and I. W. Mudford were appointed delegates.
