Sir, —With, reference to the petition signed by over fifty employees from the electrical and gasworks departments, how many of them had anything, or knew anything about the inquiry but from hearsay ? At any time there are less than twenty regular hands employed at the gasworks. Also, why are some employees paid more than other labourers employed by the City Council, some with years of service, while others had dirtier and more, dangerous work, such as feeding the coal elevator at the gasworks?—l am, etc..
