NOT TO SCHOOL.
BIIIGADORE AT RICCARTON. Brigadore, the winner of the Awapuni Steeplechase at tho Mnnawatu winter meeting, has jumped into prominence as a prospect for the Grand National Steeples. His possibilities in this direction were pointed out several weeks ago by “Spectator,” and a Press Association message yesterday reported that ho had appeared on the Riccarton tracks very fit, but was not going to bo schooled. Similar methods were adopted by tho owner of Irish Comet, winner of the Great Northern Sleeplechase. Brigadore was given two rounds of strong work on the saDd yesterday morning. He has done a good deal of similar exercise since he won the Awapuni Steeplechase over a month ago, but has not jumped, and it is not intended to school him before Tuesday’s big lace. His ownor-traincr, E. C. Haddock, of Marton, who was a resident of Riccarton a few years back, when he had Invictus in commission, considers Brigadore. is a natural jumper and does not require any schooling, not even to prepare him for the formidable Riccarton country. Brigadore is engaged in the big jumping double, having also been accepted for in the Grand National Hurdles on the second day.
