An intense anti-cyclone is located over south-eastern Australia and extends over the Tasman Sea while pressure is still very low to the east of New Zealand. Pressure is rising fast over the Dominion. Forecast: Strong south-westerly winds to gales, decreasing 'slowly. Weather cold and changeable with passing showers in many places, but more especially east of the ranges; some sharp frosts inland. Seas rough to high but moderating gradually tomorrow. RIVER GAUGE AT PALMERSTON NORTH. Noon. —3ft.
