WOODVILLE.
WOODVILLE, Aug. 7. Mr and Mrs Knight, of Feilding, have taken up their residence at Papatawa. Miss R. Spensely, of the Karitane Hospital staff, Wanganui, has been visiting friends in the district. Mrs C. F. Baker, of Papatawa, who has been an inmate of the Dannevirlce Hospital for some time, is progressing favourably. At a social afternoon held by the Woodvillo Croquet Club Mrs Hume won the bridge prize and Mrs S. Wright the “500” tournament. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess, Mrs J. Hal pin. •The annual meeting of the Woodville Methodist Church was attended by a large congregation, proceedings being presided over by Rev. T. Coatsworth. Musical selections were given, those contributing being the choir, Miss I. Graham (vocal solos), Misses Nita Lawrence and L. Richards and Aev. J. H. Boyd (vocal solos). Reports on various aspects of church life were presented. The monthly meeting of the Wooclville Women’s Institute was held in the Parish Hall, Mrs N. M. Burnett presiding over an excellent attendance. Leave was taken of two members, Mesdames P. JLvana and C. Nicliolson who will be leaving the district shortly and best wishes were expressed for tlieir future welfare. As it was “Members’ Day” Mrs Burnett vacated the chair at the conclusion of business and Mrs T. Smith presided over the programme. The opportunity was taken by "members of the circle to present an electric jug to Mrs J. Sinclair in appreciation of the work and time she has devoted to the production of drama. Mrs Hanlon contributed songs and Miss J. Stevenson and Mrs H. Sillifant humorous recitations. Mrs H. Paterson, of Pahiatua, gave an interesting travel talk.
