CARNARVON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) CARNARVON, Aug. 6. Mr G. R. McKenzie presided over a representative and enthusiastic meeting of over thirty in the hall on Thursday evening to discuss the proposed formation of a Social Club. On tbe motion of Mr R. Ayers it was unanimously decided to form the club. Misses Scott and Ayers and, after a ballot, Messrs Hodge, Knight and Ayers were appointed a committee to make rules and arrangements. Mr Barrie was elected patron, and Mrs Barnett arid Messrs P. Scott, Powell, J. Warren, G. R. McKenzie, and W. ,T. Freclclington vice-presidents. It was decided that, owing to the lateness of the season, the question of playing ping pong he held , over until tables, etc., are procured. Dancing and cards, etc., in the meanwhile will help to pass the time. Mrs Barnett kindly donated £1 as a start towards the cost of the ping pong tables. The merging of the dancing class could not bo finalised owing to the absence of members of the latter. It was decided to hold the meetings once a fortnight, on Wednesday nights. A vote of thanks to Mr R. Avers for his interest was earriec.’. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr Knight was elected chairman, and Mr Hodge secretary and treaaurer. Mr and Mrs C. Bathe, of Putararu, recently spent a week with Mr and Mrs Freclclington. Mr 11. Reeve, of Ohura, ufler eight yoars’ absence, is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs B. Reeve. .Mr H. Miller has returned from his annual vacation. Mr Lux-ford, who has been in indifferent health, is visiting relatives in Whakatanc, hoping to benefit by the change.
