CARPENTERS’ DIFFICULTIES.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. Mr Moulton, secretary of the Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Union, stated today: “There h little unemployment among carpenters. The Government housing scheme is relieving the position. There still remains the difficulty of the number of married men having to travel to secure work, bringing the problem to these of keeping two homes going. A portion of the answers received to 10.000 questionnaires he had sent out showed that the annual wage for tradesmen was from £D32 to £lB2 and the average rental 30s, leaving £2 a week for food and clothing.
