SECESSION OF ALBERTA.
-/question BEING CONSIDERED.
Received August 19, 12.15 p.m. EDMONTON, Aug. 18. At a Social Credit picnic, the Premier (Mr W. Aberhart) said that Alberta would fight along constitutional lines. A man shouted: “Give us guns.” “None of that,” admonished the Premier.
No decision wag reached after a six hour secret session of the Cabinet on the question of secession. The advice to threaten secession was contained in three cables from Australia expressing resentment of the attitude to Mr Aberhart’s scheme. The Alberta Chamber of Commerce sent a wire warning Ottawa that it would be held responsible for safeguarding the property and .. private rights of Albertans against Mr Aberhart.
