COMPENSATION PAYABLE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 19.. The London Gazette states that it is estimated that £43,174 will be payable as compensation for 4707 animals slaughtered because of foot-and-mouth disease during the first fortnight in January. It is reported that the disease, with one exception, came from the Continent.'
