Received January 25, 2.10 p.m. HANKOW, Jan. 24. The Chinese operating on the Japanese flanks in Shantung Province are reported to have delivered a raid between Tsining and Yinchow, recapturing Sunchihtien in order to impede the Japanese advance on the Lunghai Railway. Close fighting is in progress neai Nanyang Lake. The Japanese are finding difficulty in closing the 150-mile gap between their troops along the railway owing to the Harassing tactics of the Chinese guerrilla forces. Relays of Japanese war 'planes participated in the longest series of air raids yet experienced in South China. The towns bombed included Canton, where 20 persons were killed. Chinese "archies" returned the heavy fire.
