ATTACK BY SUBMARINE. TORPEDO NARROWLY MISSES. INCIDENT IN MEDITERRANEAN.

A submarine is reported to have attacked without warning the British steamer Lake Geneva in the eastern Mediterranean,, firing a torpedo •• from a range of 300yds, which passed under the steamer. . The submarine came to the surface, then submerged. A Valencia message says that' the master of the Lake Geneva confirms the attack.
