“A POWERFUL SIDE.”
COMMENT IN LONDON. Received January 28, 10.35 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 27. The Star considers that Bradman will lead a powerful side. “The batting looks very strong indeed,” adds the paper. “The team, however, is not as strong as former sides in the matter of all-round players.” Sir Pelham Warner (former English Test captain and manager) says: “It obviously is a strong side. I have never known an Australian team otherwise, but hope and believe it is not invincible.”
Mr J. B. Hobbs, writing in tho Star, says that he noticed with a real pang of regret the exclusion of Grimmett and Oldfield.
