LOWER BUTTER RATION.

POSSIBLE IN ENGLAND.

(British Official Wireless.) Received May 7, 9.43 a.in. RUGBY, May 6

The Minister of Food (Lord Woolton) to-day warned the public of tho possibility of reducing the butter ration at an early date. “I have no doubt we shall have adequate supplies drawn from within the Empire for the rest of the year,” the Minister said. “The important thing for us to consider is not how much of any particular article there is in England at the moment, hut how much there would be in the event of nil sorts of disadvantageous circumstances arising in the future.” It will be recalled that the original butter ration was doubled shortly after its introduction. In telling the public to he prepared for ail early reduction in 7the butter ration to four ounces a week, the Minister said this was due to a stoppage of the Danish supplies (says a Press Association report). Although cold storage facilities are at present adequate, new stores are being built in eight different parts of the country in order to meet eventualities.
