NAPIER.
Wednesday. An action for libel ha# been commenced by the proprietors of ithe " Telegraph. " against the " Hawkes Bay Herald." This afternoon, Carlile, Dinwiddie, and Morrison were served with three writs, at the instance of Kennedy, Knowles, and JSTewton, respectively, proprietors of the " Telegraph." Each claiming £1,000 damages. The alleged libel is contained m a letter published m the " Herald " respecting the " Gazette " advertising contract.
