PORT CHALMERS.
Saturday. Hugh Harper, an elderly man of dis-sipated-habits, was committed for trial to-day on a charge of manslaughter, the victim being his wife, who was of intemperate habits. The evidence ad--duced showed . that the deceased died from loss, of blood from a wound on the head, caused by-Harper beating her with a poker. > /..!
