AWFULLY SUDDEN DEATH.

Information reached town yesterday that a Dane, named John Baamuaaen, aged thirty years, who was working on a contract at Ashurst, had been found dead m his tent m the morning. On rece'pt of the intelligence Constable Gillespie repaired .to the scene, -jrhich is some five miles from Ashurst, and had -the body conveyed to the Otangaki Hotel, where Dr. Marriner held & post mor"tern examination. According to his mates, deceased complained on Monday of dizzii cis m the head and knocked off work bi-fore th* regular hour to go to dinner, and upon being advised to ace a doctor, said he had some pills, and he would take them. After dinner he turned to work again and seemed to be all' right. ' Yesterday morning his -mates who lived some little distance away palled him as usuaL but not receiving a reply, and observing no smoke, entered the tent and found the poor fellow lying on his face, cold and stiff. It was quite evident that on entering the tent on Monday evening h* must have thrown himself on his bun]i, and rolling on the floor died shortly aftei-ifards without a struggle, The reason for this supposition is that no preparation hadbeenniad* for supper, and after falling to the ground, had he made the slightest stiugglf it would have been observable, as all ro and the bed billies and tins were lying uhdesturbed. ' The deceased, who came from Queensland, was. a single mau, and . had no relations m the Colony. An inquest is to be held te-day. ---
