In reply, he announced that information had reached the Government that the Boers have accepted the conditions of peace which were submitted to them by Sir Evelyn Wood, Under the. same : the Boers will recognise the suzerainty or the Queen m the Transvaal, but will enjoy a complete autonomy, a : ,; British Resident being however located m the capital.- Mr. Gladstone further informed the House that the Royal Commission of Eftqtiiry would arrange the native froutier : question, and would also consider whether the Transvaal' "siiouTd lose territory to the eastward. He concluded by stating that the Boers would disperse their forces forthwith, bnt the British garrisons would remain m their present positions until a complete settlement had been effrct-'d, j and m the meantime the troops would be stationery.
