MELBOURNE.
Tuesday. It has transpired that the Government has decided to proceed with business m the Legislative Assembly m expectation of the Le£i«l:»tive Council reversing the ruling of the President, by which it was decided that the Reform Bill should not be received from the Assembly for consideration. ■-'-■:■■■■■ In the Legislative Council this evening a motion, introduced by .the Hon. Mr. Reid, a Government supporter, disagreeing with the President's ruling m regard to the Reform Rill, was negatived after a delate. It has transpired, however, that at a caucus of members of the Council it was agreed to waive the technical grounds of objection to the reception of the Reform Bill from the Assembly, and to proceed with the consideration of that measure on its merits. : The Legislative Council will to-day discuss a motion, to be introduced by the Hon Mr Cuthbert m favor of the Reform Bill being read a first time under protest.
