SEVERAL INQUIRIES.
TO THE EDITOE. Sir, — I would feel obliged by your answering tbe four following queries } — , HL. I.— As there is considerable «3i«arepancy between the report published in your columns of the Assessment Coart and that given by tht Standard, would yoa kindly say wbieh is correct ? N°- 2.— As your report of the ease of Fraser v. tbe Racing <"Mub varies rery materially from the Standard's, please say! wbieh we are to believe ? \ No, 3. — No one reading your report .of ibe; last sitting of tbe Manawatu Highways Board and then perusing that of the Standard, would imagine it was the same meeting. Whioh can be relied on at correct ? No. 4.— 1« your report of Councillor Dungan' s reply to Councillor Batchelar correct j and if so, why was it suppressed by tbe Standard ? A. Rettj.sb. [iWe imagine our correspondent is havjmg a sly dig at the expense of our contemporary by asking his various questions, for as a matter of fact the Standard bad not a solitary word of report, or even a paragraph with regard to
the Assessment Court, Fraaer t. the Rating Club, or the Manawatu Highways Board. No doubt the editor wilfully ignored them m order to insert kis concocted letters attacking the Chairman of the Borcugh Council, and disgraceful personalities from the same " Squib." With regard to the fourth query, Councillor Dangaqu did reply-as report ed ; no doubt they were suppressed for the same reason/that 1 some of the utterances of the chairman were distorted, and the remainder ignored.-rK».
